With a legislative push towards the automotively mundane, it is of little surprise that demand for engaging and visceral cars is skyrocketing. Nowhere is this clearer than in the niche yet exhilarating world of the forever Iconic GT40.
This is evidenced though Hi-Tech automotive, the factory producing the Superformance range of cars, installing an additional GT40 production line. Even with the additional capacity, demand is outweighing supply and lead times are at an all-time high. A small price to pay to own a world beating sports racer, but a throne in the side for the impatient and excitable.
Should you be on your journey to GT40 ownership and you are not one for waiting, there is good news. You can beat the queue and own a legend of La Sarthe today as Le Mans Coupes are delighted to welcome to market this beautiful, low mileage example.
First registered in 2019, GT40P/2380 is built to a stunningly high spec for its first and current owner. Finished in Gulf blue with twin white stripes, the livery is both period correct and aesthetically beautiful. Powered by the mighty 427ci Roush V8 coupled with the Borla 8 stack injection, power is both instant and ferocious, yet with the Le Mans conquering chassis housing such ferocity, it is both animalistic when required and gentle on command.
There is no mistaking the racing origins of this car with the positive clutch and throttle and uprated Wortec 6-pot brakes that reward physical activation. However, the rawness is easily tamed and enjoyable in an array of driving environments from road to track. The 1960s cockpit is simple and functional, providing only the information that is required for the successful operation of such a machine and is presented in excellent condition. Air conditioning is fitted as standard and the current owner has installed a fire suppression system, not only adding to the theatre and true racing experience but also adding an additional safety element. A tracker has also been fitted for insurance purposes and this can be transferred over as required.
The overall condition of this car is excellent, and it has been maintained to a very high standard with hits of patina in the areas expected with at GT40.
