SOLD 2020 Superformance GT40 Chassis P/2378 SOLD

Vary rarely does the opportunity to own a legend present itself. Yet we find ourselves here today with this beautifully accurate Superformance GT40 available for immediate sale.

Superformance are the sole manufacturer of GT40P/2000 series continuation cars factory built under licence from Safir Spares, the rights holders to the GT40 name. So accurate are the cars that they are not only over 85% interchangeable with the cars of the ‘60s but they were also selected as the hero cars for the feature movie “Le Mans ‘66”. Importantly, Superformance GT40s are also eligible for the Shelby World Registry.

This example is offered for sale on behalf of the current owner who is a lifelong GT40 enthusiast and long-time owner, having owned and run several variants and finally culminating in ownership of the ultimate GT40 seen for sale here.

Overview and specs:

First registered in 2020 GT40P/2378 has covered just over 1000 miles (car still in use so might be slightly higher at time of purchase).

Finished in Viking Blue with Wimbledon white stirpes, colours synonymous with Carroll Shelby and motorsport in the mid 1960s.

The car sits on pin drive BRM 6 spoke alloys with nearly new Avon CR6ZZ tyres ( a truly remarkable tyre in all conditions on both road and track)

This example is powered by a Ford 331 (5.4) V8 achieving 436 BHP (printout available) which was custom built by Prestige motorsports USA Spec as follows:

AFR 185 Aluminium heads, Holley 670 Carb, Forged rods and pistons, Authentic period oil pan, Roller Rockers, Custom ground Comp cams camshaft with old style firing order to give authentic sound when matched with the original style Crossover exhaust.

Mated to this glorious and revvy engine is a Quaife ZFQ 5 speed transmission, with LSD, sill mounted with dog leg first.

GT40 branded Wilwood 4 pot brakes all round with Bilstein fixed rate, height adjustable dampers and H&R springs

Other features to note:

• Electronic water pump and fan controller

• Adjustable pedal box allowing for drivers upto circa 6’6”

• Gurney Bubble

• Immobiliser

• Removeable Motolita steering wheel

• Period features such as twin clip rear clam, authentic number plate recess in rear clam, Bundle of snakes exhaust system and rear undertray

This is a clean and low mileage example in fantastic condition with only very minor paint defects to note in the usual areas, mainly under the front nose cone as to be expected and experienced with all GT40s.

Stepping into the thoroughbred racing cockpit, everything is in place to make you feel like you are about to tackle the gruelling 24 Hours of Le Mans, and conquer it like the heroes of the 1960s. Sliding down into the period style riveted seats, pressing the start button with a blip of the throttle and hearing the roar of the V8 rumbling into life behind you, there is not a more exciting feeling in the world.
